As a child I remained enchanted at the sight of a building, 

with scientific knowledge, was made to implode, 

without affecting anything of what was around

 

Da bambina rimanevo incantata davanti allo spettacolo di un edificio che, 

con sapienza scientifica, veniva fatto implodere, 

senza intaccare nulla di quel che c'era intorno

 Today I look enchanted, together with my little baby boy

feeling tiny little, machines that work instead of our arms,

lifting stones and knead stones and cement

Oggi guardo incantata insieme al mio piccolo omino, 

sentendomi anche io piccola piccola, 

macchinari che lavorano al posto delle nostre braccia, 

sollevano pietre e impastano sassi e cemento

 Works are going on, and the cage of scaffolding that closes the view 

 finally disappeared.

 I lavori della casa procedono, e anche la gabbia di ponteggi che chiudeva la visuale

 finalmente è scomparsa

This spring, this space will be filled with jasmine plants and hydrangeas
hostas, violets and gravel...

Questa primavera questo spazio sarà colmo di piante di gelsomino ed ortensie

hoste, violette e ghiaia...

In a few hours preparations to celebrate the new year will begin.

We will spend at home, with some old dear friends.

Tra qualche ora cominceranno i preparativi per festeggiare il nuovo anno.

Noi lo trascorreremo a casa nostra, con alcuni vecchi cari amici.

Ciascuno di noi preparerà qualcosa da mangiare, cose semplici, da mangiare con le mani intanto che si chiacchiera.

I must not forget to ask those who have to carry the tombola, I like it a lot!

And the ultimate sin of gluttony year, Pandoro with mascarpone cream and dark chocolate.

A real lust!

Non mi devo scordare di chiedere a chi ce l'ha di portare la tombola, mi piace un sacco!

E l'ultimo peccato di gola dell'anno, il pandoro con la crema di mascarpone e cioccolato. 

Una vera libidine!

Days Full of Soul

Outside their door are pieces of pottery with the words 

Peace, Love, Joy. 

And that's just what you discover and hear once you cross the threshold.

Fuori dalla loro porta ci sono dei pezzetti di terracotta con su scritto

Pace, Amore, Gioia. 

Ed è proprio quello che si scopre e sente una volta che si è varcata la soglia.

Me and my family spent a wonderful Christmas, 

one of the most beautiful that I remember.

Io e la mia famiglia abbiamo trascorso un bellissimo Natale, 

uno dei più belli che mi ricordi.

A small house, home to hardship and abandonment

and a great simple woman who knows how to turn this into a Family.

A real Family.

Una piccola casa, che accoglie disagi e abbandono

e una piccola semplice donna che sa trasformare tutto questo in una Famiglia. 

Una vera Famiglia.

Maybe some of us had come into the house thinking of making an act of altruism.

But we were the ones who receive. 

They gave us welcome and warmth, a tangible sense of God.

And hugs and smiles unforgettable.

I'll talk about them yet, you can be certain.

Forse qualcuno di noi era entrato in quella casa pensando di fare un atto di altruismo.

Invece siamo stati noi a ricevere. 

Ci hanno donato accoglienza e calore, un senso di Dio tangibile. 

E degli abbracci e sorrisi indimenticabili.

Vi parlerò di loro ancora, siatene certi.

A tutti voi, cari amici, auguro di passare delle serene festività, vicini alle persone che amate.

Only two more days to Christmas, and I am finishing the final preparations

The last cinnamon biscuits and chocolate to bake, some package to end.

Mancano solo due giorni al Natale, e sto terminando gli ultimi preparativi

Gli ultimi biscotti alla cannella e cioccolato da infornare, qualche pacchetto da terminare

But what I like most is a visit to the neighbors, especially the old couple who live right next to me, 

they have the simplicity and elegance of yesteryear.

Ma la cosa che più mi piace è fare una visita ai vicini, specie a quei due vecchietti che abitano proprio accanto a me, una signorilità e semplicità di altri tempi.

I believe in Angels.

I believe in the Guardian Angel , and I think mine must have two beautiful wide wings,
gaping on me

Credo negli Angeli.

Credo nell'Angelo custode, e penso che il mio abbia due belle ali grandi,
 spalancate su di me

I believe that many Angels are around us, silent, modest.

Wonderful people who give so much, that believe in what they do

Credo che molti angeli siano intorno a noi, silenziosi, modesti.

Persone meravigliose che danno tanto, che credono in quel che fanno

who put themselves forward to the next, and loose their life.

As the four women that were killed in Pakistan three days ago 

because vaccinated children.

che mettono il prossimo avanti a se stesse, e ci lasciano la vita.

Come le quattro donne uccise in Pakistan tre giorni fa

perchè facevano le vaccinazioni ai bambini.

Oggi il mio pensiero va a loro, angeli senza ali.

Today my thoughts go out to them, angels without wings.

Waiting for Christmas - Last minute DIY gift - Decorated candles

I love candles, their soft light, I use them all the year  

but especially at Christmas time I scattered them everywhere, 

and hubby askes me where is the Sanctuary ...

 Adoro le candele, la loro luce morbida, le uso tutto l'anno 

ma specialmente a Natale le sparpaglio un po' ovunque, 

e il maritino mi chiede dov'è il santuario...

 There is always some unexpected gift to do,  

that we might remember the last moment
 ... or want to do a little something at low cost.

 C'è sempre qualche regalino inaspettato da fare, 

di cui ci ricordiamo magari all'ultimo momento
... o vogliamo fare un pensierino a basso costo.

Decorated candles can be the solution!

Le candele decorate possono essere una soluzione!

We need:

white candels

white tissue paper

 spray removable glue (or masking tape)

printer

Occorrente:

candele bianche

carta velina bianca

colla spray rimovibile (o scotch di carta)

stampante 

Cut tissue paper the size of a sheet of A4 paper and glue with removable glue  

(or fix with the masking tape on the edges of the sheet)

Print the images you prefere

I chose the images of baby angels that I found on the web
and at the legendary Graphics Fairy

Tagliamo la carta velina della misura di un foglio di carta A4 e incolliamola 

con la colla removibile 

(o fermiamola con lo scotch di carta sui bordi del foglio)
Stampiamo le immagini che preferiamo
io ho scelto le immagini di angeli bambini che ho trovato nel web
e dalla mitica Graphics Fairy

 Cut the images as close as possible to the edge,  place it on the candle

 and then heat it with a hair dryer until the image has been "merged" with the candle.
Take care to spread uniformly heat 

END!

Tagliamo le immagini il più possibile vicino al bordo, posizioniamole sulla candela

 e poi con il phon scaldiamo l'immagine fino a che si sia "fusa" con la candela,
avendo cura di diffondere  il calore uniformemente

FINE!
