Our new bedroom reveal

Dear friends,

who follows me for some time know that a year ago is begun 

the adventure of the renovation of our new home.

The adventure is not over yet, but I can finally start to show you some fruit of our labors!

Chi mi segue da tempo sa che da un anno è iniziata l'avventura della ristrutturazione 

della nostra nuova casa.

L'avventura non è ancora terminata, ma finalmente posso iniziare a farvi vedere 

qualche frutto delle nostre fatiche!

Today I invite you to take a stroll in our new bedroom.

Oggi vi invito a fare un giretto nella nostra nuova camera da letto.

Lot of furniture in our home are old furniture flea markets recovered, cleaned and repainted by us.

The headboard of our bed instead is an old door I found two summers ago on the street.

That door had a story to tell! How could I leave it there?

Molti mobili nella nostra casa sono vecchi mobili recuperati nei mercatini dell'usato,

ripuliti e riverniciati da noi.

La testata del nostro letto invece è una vecchia porta trovata due estati fa per strada.

Quella porta ne aveva di storia da raccontare! Come potevo lasciarla lì??

Ours is an old house that dates back to the '30s. 

The ceilings are so high that the curtains are tremendously normal court. So, to keep expenses down, I had to create your own. I stretched the simple tents Ikea, and the result is not bad, I would say, especially for me that I know of only sew straight lines! =)

La nostra è una vecchia casa, che risale agli anni '30. I soffitti sono così alti che le tende normali risultano tremendamente corte. Così, per contenere le spese,  ho dovuto crearne di personali. 

Ho allungato delle semplici tende Ikea, e il risultato non è male, direi, specie per me che so cucire solo delle righe dritte! =)

The corner cupboard that in the old house was in the living room, it's from Ikea, 

we revisited with a few hands of White Chalk Paint.

Il mobile d'angolo è quello che nella vecchia casa stava nel salotto, anche lui Ikea, da noi rivisitato con qualche mano di Chalk Paint bianca.

The rusty iron and linen roses wreath on the door is a gift from my dearest and refined friend Lelia, as well as the dummy door necklaces, William, 

so named by its creator Andrea, her husband.

La coroncina di ferro arrugginito e rose di lino sulla porta è un dono della mia cara e raffinatissima amica Lelia, così come il manichino porta collane, Guglielmo, così battezzato dal suo creatore Andrea, suo marito. Non sono bellissimi? Grazie amici cari!

Finally I'm back!

Dear friends, I finally solved the problem that had the blog and some of you had reported (by the way, thanks to all!).

Holidays are over, but  it remains the mood lighter that these wonderful summer days always leave me.

Cari amici, finalmente ho risolto il problema che aveva il blog e che qualcuna di voi mi aveva segnalato (a proposito, grazie a tutte!!).

Le vacanze sono terminate, ma resta lo stato d'animo più leggero che queste meravigliose giornate d'estate mi lasciano sempre.

Who's that Girl?

One of the most beautiful stories that tells our house is this rose.

Una delle storie più belle che racconta la nostra casa è questa rosa.

Climbing, born in an orange color that brightens slowly as the buds opens, 

until they become pale pink.

Sarmentosa, nasce di un colore arancio che adagio schiarisce man mano 

che il bocciolo si apre, fino a diventare rosa pallido.

Its petals are many and thin as silk, has a light scent.

As if that were not enough it has a great vitality and is flourishing.

 I suoi petali sono molti e sottili come seta, ha un profumo lieve.

Come se non bastasse ha una gran vitalità ed è rifiorente.

I'm madly in love ...

Our New Livingroom

Finally, a little at a time, our home is taking its final shape, 

as the word "final" in home decor has nothing to do with me.

I love to move, add and remove, change details ...

Finalmente, un po' alla volta la nostra casa sta prendendo la sua forma definitiva,

per quanto nell'arredamento la parola "definitiva" con c'entri proprio nulla con me.

Io amo spostare, aggiungere e togliere, cambiare dettagli... 

Today I invite you to sit in our Living room that, even if it is not completely finished yet 

(I would add a belief, the hubby is absolutely contrary) is already well under way.

Oggi vi invito ad accomodarvi nel nostro salotto che, se anche non  è ancora del tutto terminato

(io vorrei aggiungere una credenza, il maritino è assolutamente contrario) è già a buon punto.

Qualche dettaglio un po' french style, come questo lampadario acquistato in un negozio dell'usato e che era stato verniciato in  verde e rosa

Pillow Without Hinge - Cuscino senza cerniera - Tutorial

A few days ago I found some napkins with a fantasy that I loved, 

in crimson roses on white background. Delicious.

So, with a scrap of  old hemp fabric and the napkins I made a couple of pillows .

As far I am not a seamstress tube I used a simple pattern pillow, without hinge.

I decided to share with you the tutorial, because it's really affordable for everyone!

Qualche giorno fa ho trovato dei tovaglioli con una fantasia che mi piaceva moltissimo, 

a rose cremisi su sfondo bianco. Deliziosa.

Così, usando un avanzo di tessuto di vecchia canapa, ne ho fatto un paio di cuscini.

Dato che decisamente io non sono una sarta provetta 

ho usato uno schema di cuscino semplicissimo, senza cerniera.

Ho deciso di condividere con voi il tutorial, perchè è davvero alla portata di chiunque!

I cut the cloth in a square of 42 cm per side, for the front of the cushion.

I then cut two equal parts of 30x42 cm for the back.

I cut the edges of the napkins, getting a square of 32x32 cm

Ho tagliato la canapa in un quadrato di 42 cm per lato, per la parte anteriore del cuscino.

Ho poi tagliato due parti uguali di 30x42 cm per il retro.

Ho ritagliato i bordi del tovagliolo, ottenendo un quadrato di 32x32 cm

I sewed the hem on the two rear parts along the longest side, bending twice the fabric on itself. 

I then sewed the napkin on the front, to the right side of the fabric.

Ho cucito l'orlo sulle due parti posteriori lungo il lato più lungo, 

piegando due volte il tessuto su se stesso. 

Ho poi cucito il tovagliolo sulla parte anteriore, al dritto del tessuto.

I then sewed the three parts together on the back side of the fabric.

Ho poi cucito le tre parti assieme sul rovescio del tessuto.

Finally, I bent the two "wings" of the back - before the one above then the one below - and stitched sides.

Infine ho piegato le due "alette" della parte posteriore - prima quella sopra poi quella sotto - 
e cucito i lati.

A zig-zag tour ... Finished! Easier done than said!

Un giro di zigzag... Finito! Più facile a farsi che a dirsi!
