Melì-Melò (a long post)

Last Saturday was held in Ferrara market Melì-Melò, organized by Mara.

It 'was very pleasant opportunity to review her and Monica (the owner of the store that housed the initiative), and meet so many very talented crafter, some of them also bloggers who I knew only via the web.

I took a gazillion photos. Are you ready? Ok, sit and take a big cup of coffee.....

Sabato scorso a Ferrara si è tenuto il mercatino Melì-Melò, organizzato da Mara.

E' stata un'occasione piacevolissima di rivedere lei e Monica (proprietaria del negozio che ospitava l'iniziativa), e incontrare tante bravissime crafter, alcune delle quali anche blogger che però conoscevo solo via web.

Ho fatto un miliardo di foto. Siete pronte? Ok, prendetevi una bella tazza di caffè e mettetevi comode...

What about Mara? Her smile and her positivity shine through in everything she does, she is adorable, 

and it is no wonder that the initiative was a great success!

Che dire di Mara? Il suo sorriso e la sua positività traspaiono in ogni cosa che fa, 

è adorabile, e non c'è da stupirsi che l'iniziativa sia stata un bel successo!

The things exposed were delicious and - needless to say - I could not help 

but bring some home with me...

Le cose esposte erano deliziose e - manco a dirlo -  non ho potuto fare a meno di portarmene qualcuna a casa...

I had a stream of chatter and information about Chalk Paint with the talented and likeable Ely, 

Ho scambiato un fiume di chiacchiere e di informazioni sulla Chalk Paint con  la bravissima e simpaticissima Ely,

admired the creations of iron and fabric of my friends Lelia and Andrea, 

one of which is already on display at the door of my bedroom 

 ammirato le creazioni di ferro e tessuto dei cari amici Lelia e Andrea, una delle quali fa già bella mostra sulla porta della mia camera da letto (Leliù è una promessa, prima o poi passiamo dalle vostre parti!!!)

 along with William, the beautiful mannequin necklace holder so named by its creator. 

 insieme a Guglielmo, il bellissimo manichino portacollane così battezzato dal suo creatore.

It's been a really pleasant afternoon, to be repeated as soon as possible!

On the way back some beautiful corners of Ferrara have attracted our attention, 

and not only ... =)

E' stato un pomeriggio piacevolissimo, da ripetere al più presto!

Sulla via del ritorno alcuni angoli della splendida Ferrara hanno attratto la nostra attenzione, ma non solo quelli... =)

Our hallway and a Question

Finally is starting the most fun and creative of the new house: 

furnish and decorate!

Kitchen apart everything is still in embryo, even if what I have in mind I would like to accomplish.

Cozy spaces, easy to manage and to truly live.

But with a (now more than ever - necessary!) eye on the budget. 

And of course using the furniture we already have ...

Finalmente sta iniziando la parte più divertente e creativa della nuova casa: 

arredare e decorare! 

Cucina a parte tutto è ancora in embrione, anche se ho bene in mente quel che vorrei realizzare.

Spazi accoglienti, facili da gestire e da vivere veramente. 

Ma con un (ora più che mai indispensabile!) occhio al budget . 

E naturalmente utilizzando i mobili che già possediamo...

This is our entry as it is now.

But I already know that before the end of all the work

it will have already changed a thousand times

Questo è il nostro ingresso come si presenta ora.

Ma so già che prima che termini tutti i lavori sarà già cambiato un migliaio di volte

I love that sideboard (which was in the kitchen in the old house), but I plan to put in place there a closet

 that can hold jackets and coats, that truly we need.

Adoro quella credenza (che nella vecchia casa era in cucina) ma avrei in mente di mettere al suo posto un mobile armadio che possa contenere giacche e capotti, che in effetti servirebbe.

The door is barely visible is the main entrance, and it is still the original one:

an authentically shabby piece!

La porta che si intravvede è l'ingresso principale, ed è ancora quella originale:

un esemplare autenticamente shabby!

I'd like to keep it as it is, but pieces of paint come off all the time,

and  I must restore it and repaint. I admit that I am sorry because it is a piece of great taste ...

How would you do it?

Mi piacerebbe tenerla così com'è, ma pezzi di vernice si staccano continuamente, e occorrerà restaurarla e ridipingerla. Un po' ammetto che mi spiace perchè è un pezzo di gran sapore...

White Love and something about me

 There are sometimes certain little objects that make our heart beat

as this little white shabby coffee table I found at a flea market,

so naturally full of charm and history just like I wanted it,

that has not yet found its final location (if there ever will have it)

Ci sono a volte certe piccoli oggetti che ci fanno battere il cuore

come questo tavolino bianco e shabby scovato in un mercatino dell'usato, 

così naturalmente pieno di charme e di storia, proprio come lo volevo, 

che non ha ancora trovato la sua collocazione definitiva (se mai ce l'avrà).

Some of you have asked me how many removals have done in recent times,

have been lost in the pictures I posted ... a kitchen here, one there ...

So today I decided to tell you something more!

Waiting to renovate a part of the new house we moved from the old house to the new one

on the upper floor, where we lived for a few months.

Now that those jobs were finished we (again!!) moved downstairs, 

where everything is still a bit "in the air" waiting for a new location.

Alcune di voi mi hanno domandato quanti traslochi abbia fatto in questi ultimi tempi,

si sono perse nelle immagini che ho postato... una cucina qua, una là... 

Così oggi ho deciso di raccontarvi qualcosa in più!

In attesa di ristrutturare una parte della nuova casa ci siamo trasferiti dalla vecchia casa

a quella nuova, nel piano superiore, dove abbiamo vissuto per qualche mese.

Ora che quei lavori sono stati terminati ci siamo (nuovamente!!!) spostati al piano inferiore,

dove tutto è ancora un po' per aria in attesa di una nuova collocazione.

A few days ago new works began on the top floor, but these should be much faster ...

(OK, OK, I'll post some pictures also of the upstairs!) =)

Da qualche giorno i lavori sono iniziati al piano superiore,

ma questi dovrebbero essere decisamente più rapidi...

(OK, OK, vi posterò qualche foto anche del piano di sopra!) =)

The Recipe of Happiness

Here comes the moments in life when we must accept that we are not superheroes,

that our energies are not infinite, especially the emotional ones. 

That we have to be aware. 

Of that we are, of what we want, of what you really need to live a better life.

Arrivano dei momenti nella vita in cui ci si deve arrendere all'evidenza che non siamo dei supereroi, che le nostre energie non sono infinite, specialmente quelle emotive. 

Che si deve essere consapevoli. 

Di quel che si è, di quel che si vuole, di quello che realmente ci è necessario

per vivere una vita migliore.

In one of these moments I spoke with my family, telling my needs, my troubles, my fatigue.
And they anwered with a foolproof recipe: the one of the "cure."

Nothing can feed more and better than love.

In uno di questi momenti ho parlato con la mia famiglia, raccontando le mie necessità, le mie difficoltà, la mia fatica. 

E loro mi hanno risposto con una ricetta infallibile: quella della "cura".

Niente può nutrire di più e meglio dell'amore.

This is what I found the other morning when I woke up.
And because it's not just a balm for the soul, but also a real treat, I share with you the recipe, so simple that you do not even need the food scale =)

Questo è quel che ho trovato l'altra mattina quando mi sono svegliata.
E siccome è stato non solo un balsamo per l'anima, ma anche una vera delizia, condivido con voi la ricetta, tanto semplice che non c'è nemmeno bisogno della bilancia per alimenti =)

18 cucchiai da tavola di farina

12 cucchiai da tavola di zucchero

3 uova

scorza grattugiata di 1 arancia

succo di 2 arance

1 bustina lievito

8 cucchiai da tavola di olio di oliva

Montare le uova con lo zucchero fino ad ottenere un bel composto spumoso.

Aggiungere tutti gli altri ingredienti uno alla volta (prima quelli liquidi poi quelli secchi).

Cuocere in una teglia quadrata ricoperta con carta forno per 25-30 minuti a 180° (deve risultare dotato ma non troppo).

Farcire con panna montata e frutta fresca di stagione (le fragole sono divine!!) e decorare con una spolverata di zucchero a velo.

18 tablespoons of flour

12 tablespoons of sugar

3 eggs

grated zest of 1 orange

juice of 2 oranges

1 packet yeast

8 tablespoons of olive oil

Beat eggs with sugar until you get a nice frothy.

Add all the other ingredients one at a time (before the liquid then the dry ones).

Bake in a square baking pan covered with baking paper for 25-30 minutes at 180 degrees (must be fitted but not too much).

Garnish with whipped cream and fresh seasonal fruit (strawberries are divine!).

Add a dusting of icing sugar.
